They’re faster. This ride was a full 20 minutes faster than the same route a month ago on the Cx wheelset. (To the credit of the Cx wheels, those don’t feel slow.)
Updated Route: Found a bike lane leaving MedStar Hospital. It’s on the left side of the road, oddly, but makes the bridge crossing much more sensible. New route jumps to that lane, rather than continuing along the shoreline around the hospital.
Dropped the chain from the front chainring. Don't remember whether it went overboard from the top or the bottom ring. It’s probably time to check cable adjustment all around.
Big improvement! Just a small headache afterward, but I didn't drink the specified amount of water. Here’s what happened:
Lunch 2 hours before.
Water: Packed 1 liter, but only drank 600ml.
Food: Clif bar at minute 45. Shot blocks (3x) at minute 80. (Compressed schedule because this was a 120 minute ride.)
Smoothie after: banana, berries, peanuts, plus all remaining water. It was a super water-y smoothie.
Feedback: I felt good while riding, and much more functional afterward. The camelback makes it tough to know how much water has been consumed. I drank significantly more than previous rides. Changing to bottles would allow visual checks of water level.
