Cult Crashing

So I told you that I had a post about the Katy trail from a ride I did yesterday but I did something way more fun today so we’ll come back to the Katy Trail later. Today I was looking around on Google Maps trying to find a convenient way to cross the highways that surround our apartment (a post for another day) when I found something amazing. Just minutes from our place was a huge swatch of woods with a few choice looking gravel roads through. One catch, this land looked to be an extension of the Unity Village campus. I haven’t quite figured out what Unity Village is but I am pretty sure it is a cult. Undeterred, and with an hour of daylight remaining, I grabbed a banana, a water bottle, and a cross bike to see what shrouded rituals I could uncover.

Here is the area in question. I got here by the road coming in next to the railroad in the bottom center and the goal was to find a way to get up to the dam in the top right.

I first tried to get in to the woods from Colburn road just to the right of the railroad tracks but there was a gate with a “No trespassing Sign.”

I found this much more friendly gate by riding around the campus. It was actually just behind the parking lot for the hotel that Uncle Bill stayed in.

After finding the access point it was was just class A+ gravel…

It appears that this cult may just be all about manicuring the perfect after-work ride venue more my personal enjoyment. There is still much exploring to be done in the area. From the north end of the campus there is a likely looking gravel road the leads a few miles north. I will keep you posted as I make further discoveries. Here is a link to the Strava ride, I still need to get better with embedding things.
